Pap Test (Smear)
Can I get the Pap test during my period?

In general you should not schedule your pap test during your period.  At least try not to have it done during the days of heavy bleeding.  Some other recommendations are:
  • Do not douche for about 2 days before the test.
  • Do not use any creams or medicine in your vagina for about 2 days before the test unless your doctor tells you to do so.
  • Do not have intercourse for 1 or 2 days before the Pap test because it can cause unclear results.
