Pap Test (Smear)
Is there such a thing as a better type of pap test?

There are many improvements that have been made to the Pap smear in recent years.  Some of these include testing for the HPV virus, computer assisted methods of reading the results, and liquid based Pap tests.  You should speak with your doctor about which methods he/she uses and why.  Sometimes, newer methods may or may not be necessary and occasionally might not be covered by your insurance.
