Vaccines
Should I get a flu shot?

The influenza vaccine is an inactivated virus vaccine.  The flu can be very dangerous in pregnant women and can cause serious morbidity.  Unfortunately, it is also very common for women to get the flu during the flu season.  Therefore the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends that all pregnant women get the flu vaccine in season to prevent the serious morbidity that can result from the flu during pregnancy.  Studies have shown no negative fetal effects from the flu vaccine.
