What causes the nausea and vomiting?


The significant hormonal changes associated with pregnancy are thought to cause the symptoms of nausea and vomiting.  While high levels of the pregnancy hormone hCG has typically been implicated as the likely culprit, more recent attention has been given to the rapidly rising levels of estrogen in early pregnancy1-2.
